Walks programme 2007 - 2008

We meet for a group walk once a month.  Most of the walks are within Hertfordshire but from time to time we stray into one of our neighbouring counties.  Following the publication of the new Guidebook in 2005 we have re-walked the entire route, including the two new legs, completing the circuit in October 2007.

The current walks programme is given below. Although we usually try to include a pub stop for lunch, and the walk leader will have checked it out beforehand, it does happen that pubs change hands, so we can not guarantee that the chosen pubs will still be serving food by the time of the walk. Please note that whenever you have to leave your car in a residential area, park it with due consideration for those who live there.  All are welcome on these walks, and no payment is required, but if you join us on a regular basis we would ask you to become a member of the Society. 

Please note the meeting times for these walks; we usually aim to start walking at 10.00 am, so you should arrive at the start point in good time to park your car and put your boots on.  The leader will not normally wait for late-comers.

January 21st

10½ miles.  Start at 10.15 am from Chorleywood Common car park, north of the cricket pitch on the A404 (GR 033967).  Lunch at the Green Dragon, Flaunden (GR 014008).

February 25th

10 miles.  Meet at Lilley village hall (GR 119263) for a 10 am start.  Lunch at the Raven in Hexton (GR 106307).

March 17th

11 miles.  Meet for a 10 am start at Ringshall NT car park (GR 982143).  Ashridge forest and part of the Ridgeway path.  Lunch at the Greyhound in Aldbury (GR 965125).

April 21st

11 miles.  Meet for a 10 am start at the layby on the B1004 road near Widford Church (GR 411158).  Pub lunch at the Hoops in Perry Green (GR 439174).

May 19th

11¾ miles circular walk.  Meet at Watton-at-Stone sports field car park (GR 302192) for a 10 am start.  Pub lunch at Benington.

June 16th

13⅓ miles.  Meet in Buckwood Road, Markyate (GR 060164) for a 10 am start.  Lunch at the Bridgewater Arms, Little Gaddesden (GR 993133).
